Jarran Reed's refusal to restructure his contract led to his release by the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson.
The veteran defensive tackle was slated to make almost $9 million with the Seahawks in 2021. His release saved Seattle nearly $9 million in cap space.
The Seahawks initially tried to trade Reed, but were unsuccessful, per Henderson. He has since signed a one-year deal worth up to $7 million with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Reed appeared in all 16 games last season, recordings 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, 38 tackles and 14 quarterback hits.
