Steelers Send QB Coach to Scout South Alabama QB Carter Bradley

The Pittsburgh Steelers reshaped their quarterback room with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, but they still like to head into training camp with at least four quarterbacks. As such, it likely means two more are coming, with the eye towards the NFL Draft for those acquisitions.

And on Tuesday, one of their late-round targets may have become clear. Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy said that the Steelers had a quarterback coach on-site to watch South Alabama quarterback Carter Bradley. Bradley was at the Senior Bowl, so the Steelers already saw him up close in Mobile during the days they were there.

It is unknown exactly who the quarterbacks coach was, whether that was quarterbacks coach Tom Arth or senior offensive assistant Mike Sullivan. Regardless, this is a clear indication of interest from the team towards Bradley, who has those NFL bloodlines to draw on. Bradley is the son of Colts defensive coordinator Gus Bradley and has been around the game his whole life, something that the Steelers love in prospects.

Down in Mobile, Bradley was the unknown of the group. If you are not used to watching him, he has some surprising zip on his ball, and he plays with arm arrogance. But it can lead to some baffling decisions, and the mechanics on his front leg are a mess, which can lead to balls spraying all over the field.

Regardless, for a late round quarterback he can sling the pill all over the yard, and those traits are what teams are looking for in targets that late in the class.
