The best Philadelphia Eagles team $15 can buy

Quarterback: Jalen Hurts ($3)

Nick Foles deserves serious consideration, especially with his low price tag. After all, he’s the only QB on the list with a Super Bowl ring. But Jalen Hurts’ recent performance in Super Bowl LVII can’t be overlooked.

Against the Chiefs, Hurts went 27-38 for 304 yards and a touchdown while running for 70 yards. He also set a Super Bowl record with three rushing touchdowns. Those numbers didn’t add up to a championship, but with a price tag of just $3, they’re good enough for this squad.

Running back: LeSean McCoy ($5)

Your grandfather will tell you that Wilbert Montgomery is the greatest running back in Eagles’ history. Your uncle might say it’s Brian Westbrook. But with 6,792 yards, McCoy is the leading rusher in franchise history.

McCoy finished as a top-five back in three of six seasons with Philadelphia and led the NFL with 1,607 yards in 2013. Factor in 2,282 yards receiving with 10 scores as an Eagle and we have no problem paying top-dollar for one of the most exciting players Eagles fans have ever seen.

Wide receiver: Desean Jackson ($4)

Harold Carmichael may have more yards and twice as many touchdowns for the Eagles, but no receiver has ever been as electric as Jackson. In two stints with the team, Jackson had 379 catches for 6,512 yards, third-most in franchise history.

Jackson was a master of the big catch. Who can forget his 91-yard touchdown in 2010 or the 81-yard bomb he caught in 2020? The fact that both came against the Cowboys doesn’t hurt, and neither does Jackson’s 1,315 career yards as a punt returner.

Wide receiver: Alshon Jeffery ($2)

Terrell Owens, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith all had outstanding performances in their respective Super Bowl appearances, but of all the receivers on the list, Jeffery is the only one to win a championship. 

Technically, Jeffery’s best days came as a Chicago Bear, but his nine touchdowns in 2017 led all Eagles receivers. In Super Bowl LII, he had 73 yards and a touchdown on just three catches. Would we like to plug Brown or Owens into this spot? Absolutely, but with the budget shrinking, Jeffery’s discount is too good to pass up.

Tight end/fullback: Keith Byars ($1)

Before drafting him in 1986, head coach Buddy Ryan referred to Byars as a medical reject. While he never established himself as a feature back, he accumulated 5,661 yards and 31 touchdowns through the air in his 14-year career. he proved to be a hellacious blocker and jack-of-all-trades. 

Byars was also known as a hellacious blocker and is best remembered for delivering this shot against his best friend, the Giants Pepper Johnson. With friends like that, who needs enemies? Take our dollar, please.
