Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who hoped for a dazzling comeback in the AFC championship game, felt heartbroken when his team fell short against the Kansas City Chiefs, despite having the odds in their favor to win.
Humphrey had been in recovery from his calf injury which he suffered in week 17 in the game against Miami Dolphins.
As he sustained the injury in the first half, he was sidelined for the remainder and marked questionable for the Ravens’ future games, including the divisional round in the playoffs. With a speedy recovery, the cornerback joined the Wednesday practice session with his team as they prepared for the mega AFC title game.
Unfortunately, the game didn’t go as Humphrey hoped for. He recorded one tackle in the contest, that too in the first half as he didn’t feature much in the second. In the end, the victory was scored by the Chiefs at 17-10.
Filled with sorrow, Humphrey penned down an emotional message for the Ravens fans after his team’s playoff loss against the reigning Super Bowl champions.
Dang fam it just hit me. This was really our year. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Though on Humphrey and the Ravens’ defense part, they held up the Chiefs’ solid offensive attack pretty solidly by not allowing them to exceed the 20-point score. It was surprising that Baltimore’s usually explosive offense failed to capitalize.
The way the Ravens secured the playoff with a dominating 12-5 season record and the top-seeded AFC team in the conference game sure heightens fans’ expectations of their team.
The team was even favored to win the AFC title game and end their decade-long Super Bowl drought.
However, it didn’t happen, and Lamar Jackson and his team stood there, encountering their demise once again. After the game, realizing how it must be equally tragic for the Ravens’ fanbase as it is for the team, he sent a gratitude message to the fans on his X account.
Tough way to go out…Thank you to the #RavensFlock for the year. He wrote on X
