Three former Cowboys named Hall of Fame finalists
Dallas Cowboys former player Darren Woodson Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys are hoping a few of their former players are elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year.

For America’s Team, it seems like every season they have a few finalists.

That is no different this year, as three former Cowboys players have made it to the final round of voting.

The three players up for election this year all played on defense with two of them sharing the same field.

Here are the three former Cowboys that are Hall of Fame finalists this year.

DeMarcus Ware, Defensive End (2005-2013)

As the all-time sack leader in Cowboys history with 117.0, DeMarcus Ware should make the Hall Of Fame this year.

For his career, he is sixth all-time in sacks with 138.5.

Ware was one of the best pass rushers over the 2000s and he was even a Super Bowl Champion with Denver in 2015.

Also, he has made nine pro-bowl teams, and four all-pro teams throughout his career.

After not making it last season, Ware should be able to make the Hall in his second attempt on the ballot.

Darren Woodson, Safety, (1992-2003)

Darren Woodson is an interesting case because he has been eligible for the Hall of Fame for 15 years.

But, this is the first time that Woodson has been named a finalist.

Woodson retired as the Cowboys’ all-time leader in tackles and a three-time Super Bowl champion.

Also, he made four all-pro teams, and five pro bowls throughout his career.

Woodson has a Hall of Fame caliber resume and it seems like the voters are starting to realize it.

Zach Thomas, Linebacker, (2008)

Even though he played only one season in Dallas, Zach Thomas, was an impact player.

The last season of his career he spent with the Cowboys where he recorded 94 total tackles.

Thomas was one of the best sure-tackles in NFL history, as he was consistently amongst the league leaders in tackles.

He is a seven-time pro-bowler and five-time all-pro.

For his career, Thomas is fifth all-time in total tackles with 1,107.
