Video appears to show Vince Young sucker punched, knocked out in Texas bar fight

There is no audio with the video. But you can see Vince Young, who is wearing a white hat and dark shorts arguing with several other men. At one point, someone in the group tosses a drink towards Young.

All of the men start walking away from the bar, although they appeared to still be arguing. Then one of the men clocked Young in the face, dropping the former All−American to the floor.

The Houston Police Department told TMZ that officers arrived at the scene after the bar owner called them. The owner said he was the man on the receiving end of one of the thrown drinks.

Police told TMZ that the bar owner said the men began discussing race. Then an argument started, followed by the pushing and shoving. The owner asked all of the men to leave. Then Vince Young eventually got sucker punched in the face.

The bar owner declined to press charges against any of the patrons. Vince Young has yet to comment.

Vince Young told UT students never be afraid to ask for help

Two weeks after the fight, Young was a key speaker in Austin for a Black History Month event at the University of Texas. He told the students in attendance:

“Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I still ask for help because you never know if somebody went through what you went through. They might have some great points to help you get through whatever you might be going through.”

Young quarterbacked Texas from 2002 through 2005. He finished as runner up to Reggie Bush for the Heisman. But he won the ultimate prize, leading the Longhorns to the national title with a dramatic comeback over USC. Young rushed for 200 yards and threw for 267. His eight-yard, fourth-down scramble with 19 seconds to go clinched the 41-38 victory over the Trojans. Almost two decades later, the game remains as the most watched college football championship. More than 35.6 million people watched the game from the historic Rose Bowl.

Vince Young left Texas with a year of eligibility remaining. The Titans selected him with the third pick of the NFL Draft. He earned NFL rookie of the year honors in 2006. And he made the Pro Bowl twice. However, Young and then Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher had an acrimonious relationship. The Titans released him as training camp started in July, 2011.
