Watch: 2023 Hall of Fame inductee sings national anthem before HOF game

DeMarcus Ware is going to officially be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night following an outstanding career as a pass-rusher with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos.

To unofficially open the weekend, he helped kickoff the 2023 football season (well, the preseason anyway) by stepping behind the microphone to sing the national anthem before Thursday's Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio.

Have a look and a listen.

Okay, a couple of things here.

The first is that while Ware is going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he is probably not going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a couple of hours north in Cleveland. Having said that, at least he didn't totally Carl Lewis the thing.

The national anthem is an extremely difficult song to sing, especially in front of a stadium full of people and on national TV. So, much credit and respect to him for having the courage to put himself out there and do that.

Ware played 12 years in the NFL and recorded 138.5 sacks, leading the league on two different occasions (2008 and 2010). He also won a Super Bowl with the Broncos during the 2015 season.
