Watch: Brock Purdy attempts SpongeBob impression at Super Bowl media day

When the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs square off in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, most will watch the game via the broadcast on CBS or the livestream on Paramount+.

However, Nickelodeon will be offering a family-friendly alternative stream of the game, complete with in-game analysis from both SpongeBob SquarePants, voiced by Tom Kenny, and Patrick Starr, voiced by Bill Fagerbakke.

Some of the players were asked about the first-of-its-kind Nickelodeon stream during Super Bowl Media Day on Monday, prompting 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy to give his best SpongeBob impression.

In addition to the analysis provided from the broadcast booth, SpongeBob will also be performing “Sweet Victory,” a song written by David Glen Eisley that SpongeBob sang during the 2001 episode “Band Geeks,” in which he and his friends perform the song during the halftime show at the fictitious Bubble Bowl championship game.

While it’s not known if Purdy grew up a fan of the show, the 24-year-old QB would have been right in the show’s target demographic when it was airing. “SpongeBob SquarePants” premiered on Nickelodeon in July 1999 and Purdy was born in December of the same year.
