Who Are Commanders 5 Best Non-QB Players of Century?
USA TODAY Sports

While the Washington Commanders franchise has largely been dismal this century, there are still some bright spots when it comes to the talented players.

NBC analyst Chris Simms recently ranked the best non-quarterback players that each franchise has employed since 2000. And he and co-host Ahmed Fareed came up with a pretty interesting group of players.

These are the five names that Simms ultimately tabbed as the best non-QBs Washington has employed since 2000 ...

Receiver Santana Moss

While he spent the first four seasons of his career with the New York Jets, Moss would play in Washington for a decade, racking up 581 catches for 7,867 yards and 47 touchdowns. Moss was a Pro Bowler in 2005, when he caught 84 passes for 1,483 yards.

Linebacker London Fletcher

He didn't arrive until his age-32 season, but Fletcher ultimately spent the largest chunk of his 16-year career with Washington. In seven seasons in Washington, Fletcher recorded 956 combined tackles, 53 pass deflections and 37 tackles for loss. He was a four-time Pro Bowler in Washington, and a Second-Team All-Pro selection in 2011 and 2012.

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall

After being released by the Oakland Raiders in November of 2008, Hall latched on with Washington, where he would end up spending the final decade of his career. A Pro Bowler in 2010, Hall finished his career in Washington with 510 combined tackles, 23 interceptions, nine fumble recoveries and eight forced fumbles.

Left Tackle Trent Williams

While he's going to cement his Hall of Fame status in San Francisco, Williams was a beast during his nine years with Washington. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft made the Pro Bowl every year from 2012-2018, before a falling out with the organization led to him sitting out the 2019 season and eventually getting traded to the 49ers.

Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan

A first-round pick in 2011, Kerrigan spent 10 years of his 11-season career in Washington. He was voted to the Pro Bowl on four occasions, and is the franchise's all-time leader with 95.5 sacks.

Other names that Simms considered for the list were linebackers Brian Orakpo and LaVar Arrington, along with guard Brandon Scherff, tight end Chris Cooley and running back Clinton Portis. Though his career was tragically cut short, we would say safety Sean Taylor's four seasons were worth mentioning for a franchise that hasn't had much success in the last generation.
