Blackhawks Place Luke Philp on Waivers, Set Sights on AHL Assignment
CLIFFORD OTO/THE STOCKTON RECORD / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Chicago Blackhawks shuffled some organizational depth on Tuesday by placing forward Luke Philp on waivers. If he clears waivers, the Hawks intend to assign him to the AHL Rockford IceHogs.

Philp has been on the shelf all season after undergoing surgery to repair his right Achilles tendon in August.

He spent most of last season with Rockford and posted 53 points (29 goals, 24 assists) in 60 games. Philp also had a three-game stint with the Blackhawks, during which he logged one assist. The Blackhawks re-signed him to a one-year, two-way deal on March 9, 2023.

Due to Philp's offseason surgery, he began the 2023-24 season with an injured/non-roster designation. Now that he's nearing a return, the Blackhawks must pass him through waivers to assign him to the IceHogs.
