Blackhawks Recall Anton Kudobin, Luke Philp as Injuries Mount
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Khudobin and Philp join the Blackhawks with Alex Stalock under the weather and Anders Bjork injured.

The injury bug is biting the Chicago Blackhawks, who made a pair of Saturday roster moves to combat it. In wake of Anders Bjork's injury and Alex Stalock's illness, the Blackhawks recalled forward Luke Philp and goaltender Anton Khudobin from the Rockford IceHogs.

Philp joins the NHL team just two days after signing a one-year contract extension with the Blackhawks. He has one assist in two games with Chicago and 38 points (18 goals, 20 assists) in 46 games at the AHL level this season.

Luke Philp will fill in for Anders Bjork, who suffered an apparent lower body injury Friday that will sideline him Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Additionally, the Blackhawks' goalie room needs reinforcements as Alex Stalock is dealing with a non-COVID illness. Stalock did not suit up — even as a backup — Friday against the Florida Panthers, which required the Blackhawks to sign Zach Andrews as an emergency backup goalie.

With a little more time to plan for Saturday's contest, Chicago recalled goalie Anton Khudobin from Rockford. The veteran netminder, who came to the Blackhawks in the Max Domi trade, has spent his entire season at the AHL level. In 24 games for the Texas Stars, Khudobin owns a 13-4-4 record, 2.89 goals-against average, and .899 save percentage.

The Chicago Blackhawks visit the Lightning Saturday to wrap up a three-game road trip. Puck drop is at 6 PM CT and the game will air on NBC Sports Chicago.
