Blues player of the game vs. Lightning: Kasperi Kapanen
USA TODAY Sports

It's understandable for those that wonder how a St. Louis Blues player of the game could be picked following a 6-1 loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena.

Well, I found one, and it was Kasperi Kapanen for me.

The forward, despite being a minus-3 for the game, found himself in a lot of the plays for the Blues (15-15-1) in a positive light, if there is one when you get spanked like that.

Kapanen played 14:36 but had seven shot attempts but unfortunately only three of them were on goal and he missed the net four times, including a shorthanded breakaway, putting a backhand wide of the large Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Needless to say Kapanen wasn't involved in the lone Blues goal, but he was using his skating speed in this game, taking his defenders around the edge and trying to create on a night in which the Blues couldn't get much traction, from goaltending on out. But I thought Kapanen was the Blues' most dangerous skater on the ice.
