Brayden Schenn would have been more than happy to discuss another game without scoring, without getting a point had it come in a win.

But finally shedding that scoring monkey had to feel good in a 5-1 loss against the Florida Panthers at Enterprise Center on Tuesday.

Schenn had gone 16 straight games without a goal and 12 straight games without a point.

The chances have been there, the puck just never seemed to find its way in.

But when Schenn scored the shootout winner in a 2-1 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, perhaps it was a sign of things to come.

He would score at 3:24 of the first period to give the Blues their only goal and lead, 1-0.

"For me personally, I've been in this league along time, nothing comes for free and sometimes you have to battle a little bit of adversity," Schenn said of his first goal since Nov. 30 when he scored twice against Buffalo. "The only way to get through it is to work your way out of it and that's doing extra and the little things to try and help. Hopefully this is a start where I can help guys like 'Tommer' and 'Buchy' and stuff like that.

"As a team, we do need to find a way to score more goals. We're playing good hockey teams. They score goals and we've got to find away to counter that."

Schenn would finish with a team-high six shots on goal (eight attempts) and won 63 percent (10 of 16) of his face-offs. His line with Brandon Saad and Jake Neighbours may have been the Blues' best.
