The Vegas Golden Knights have had a much lighter schedule this month, having only played three games so far.
The period follows what was a very front-loaded schedule for the club prior to the All-Star break.
For Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy, this week's three-day break from play has been an opportunity to get a head start on scouting teams the club will be seeing in the coming weeks.
"I watched San Jose and Pittsburgh -- most of it -- last night," Cassidy told the media on Wednesday. "I watched a lot of Tampa and Colorado. I thought Colorado played great. [Tampa Bay lightning goaltender Andrei] Vasilevskiy was awesome the first two periods, Tampa finds their game and gets the win. But that's because we're playing those two teams next. So this week, I did because we're not always preparing for -- you know what I mean?
"We finally had a week where we get a couple of days to dress up on Monday and then sit on your couch last night type of thing. And tonight. I get to watch Tampa-Arizona, they're coming up. So it's kind of nice to get back into that swing of what's going on around the league besides those five minutes -- the videos you watch on the NHL.com to catch up. It's nice to see a little more than just that."
The Golden Knights will host the San Jose Sharks on Thursday for the second of a three-game homestand.
