Defenseman Ryan Lindgren signs three-year, $9 million contract with Rangers

Defenseman Ryan Lindgren won't be going anywhere.

Per Dan Rosen of the NHL's website, Lindgren has signed a three-year, $9 million contract to remain with the New York Rangers. The 23-year-old was set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the regular season.

The Blueshirts missed the playoffs and will finish the campaign fifth in the NHL East Division standings. The Rangers completed their season with a win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday to end a five-game losing streak.

Per ESPN stats, Lindgren led the Rangers with a plus-20 rating and contributed one goal and 15 assists in 51 games this season. He hasn't played since April 29 because of an upper-body injury and was one of several players the Rangers shut down last week once they were officially eliminated from postseason play.

"I'm feeling a lot better," Lindgren told reporters during Monday's media session. "Obviously never like missing games, especially at the end of the season, but just needed to take some time. I'm feeling better and better each day. Excited for the training and the offseason."

In total, he's accumulated two goals and 28 assists with a plus-30 rating in 116 career regular-season contests.
