Expectations are big for the Vancouver Canucks – but will it be too much come playoff time?

Tyler Yaremchuk and Colby Cohen discuss the Vancouver Canucks run throughout the season that seeds them first in the Western Conference, but will the expectations for this Canucks team be too much for them to handle come playoff time? Colby and Tyler break it all down.

Tyler Yaremchuk: When you look at the six teams who are destined to make the playoff out West, is there one team that has a question mark that is bigger than the others?

Colby Cohen: Probably the Vancouver Canucks and people will roll their eyes at me because they are in such a good spot, they got 92 points. But I just haven’t loved the way they have played since they brought in Elias Lindholm, then they were dealt the blow with Thatcher Demko being out for a while and we don’t really know what he’s going to be like when he gets back and that’s always tough for a goaltender to get back into it and reading rushes, the timing, conditioning is all part of it.

Colby Cohen: You know I look at their top line and you got Hoglander on that top line, and are these guys playoff performers? I think I have some question marks on if these guys will be playoff performers, they haven’t been there, and they don’t have a lot of experience. The expectations for this team are big now, we’re talking about Rick Tocchet for the Jack Adams, they’ve been a top team all year, and they won the Lindholm sweepstakes but then we heard that they thought about flipping Lindholm and what type of tension does that cause for a player who is not fitting in very well. So I worry about this team and the high expectations that they have.
