Minnesota Wild’s Jonas Brodin to have MRI to determine extent of injury

Brodin last played in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks where he logged 16:30 minutes of ice time. This season, Brodin has notched seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points in 51 games. Brodin missed 17 games earlier this season with an upper-body injury

The Karlstad, Sweden product signed a 7-year, $42 million extension with the Wild in Sept. 2020; his contract holds an average annual value (AAV) of $6 million and he is currently in year three of that deal. His deal holds a full no-movement clause through the first four years.

Brodin made his NHL debut with the Wild back in the shortened 2012–13 season, collecting 11 points in 45 games with the team. He’s been a fixture in the lineup ever since and has helped the Wild qualify for the playoffs 10 times over that span; Brodin has skated in 67 postseason contests in his NHL career.

The Wild currently sit third in the Western Conference Wild Card race with a 34-27-8 record and 76 points through 59 games. They sit three points back of the second-place Vegas Golden Knights and 12 points back of the first-seated Wild Card team the Nashville Predators.
