Patrick Marleau wants to play one more year

Patrick Marleau made history on April 19th in Vegas. His dedication to the game of hockey culminated in game 1768 of his NHL career passing the great Gordie Howe for most games played. The record now stands at 1779 and apparently Marleau wants to add to it.

“I feel like I still have a lot to give,” Marleau told reporters Thursday, according to the Teal Town USA podcast. “I’m eager to have a really good season next season.”

The veteran would like to come back but has yet to speak with Sharks GM Doug Wilson about it.

Rangers to interview Gerard Gallant

On the latest edition of TSN Insider Trading Darren Dreger confirmed that Gallant will interview for the job. “The New York Rangers have been granted permission by the Vegas Golden Knights to interview Gerard Gallant,” Dreger said. “So clearly he is one of the top candidates in the process that has been started by Chris Drury.”

Gallant is also the head coach for Team Canada which is why the Rangers are moving quickly. “The timing has more to do with the travel plans for Gallant,” Dreger explained. “He is on his way to Latvia this weekend. So the New York Rangers would at least want to spend some time, and have at least one conversations with Gerard Gallant before he begins taking on the responsibility of running Canada at the World Men’s Hockey Championship.”

NHL Playoffs Schedule released

Per the NHL release:

The National Hockey League today announced the schedule scenarios, starting times and national broadcast information for the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs First Round based on the outcome of tonight’s Los Angeles Kings-Colorado Avalanche game. The 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs First Round will begin Saturday, May 15 with Game 1 between the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals at 7:15 p.m. ET (NBC, SN, CBC, TVAS). All times listed are ET and subject to change.
