Among the names placed on waivers were forwards Alex Nylander, Andreas Johnsson, and Joona Koppanen.
No team decided to take a caim on any of the three forwards and the Penguins have assigned each of them to the AHL.
Nylander started last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and had a stellar season before being recalled to the NHL.
Johnsson and Koppanen are two new signings made by Kyle Dubas, who stated he wouldn’t be afraid to utilize waivers if he needed to.
With just a few days until opening night, the Penguins roster has been chopped from 58 to 33 with five players still on the injured list.
Following Nylander, Johnsson, and Koppanen’s clearing, no other Penguins were placed on waivers.
