Wild Host Predators As Ignorance Continues
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Our Minnesota Wild are letting the Nashville Predators come to town as they try and try to desperately cling onto the hope of a playoff spot.

Right now, it feels like we are just waiting for the shoe to drop and for the Wild to be too far down the standings for general manager Bill Guerin to keep on coming to the podium and saying that he believes in this team, or that he thinks the playoffs are still alive. Of course, you don't want to demoralize your locker room, but you know that just in the back of everyone's head, they know that this is highly improbable.

The Wild are technically just four points back of a playoff spot and are at an even .500 in points percentage -- funny enough, the Predators hold that second Wild Card position currently -- but there are four other teams in the mix. These teams aren't necessarily any better than the Wild, especially considering that this team has had to fight off the injury bug to stay competitive, but just there being so many other teams that the Wild need to climb over lowers the odds.

Believing in something improbable is not dangerous. Well, until we are just a couple weeks from the NHL trade deadline and the Wild are still in it, and then Guerin decides to do something out of the blue to try and rescue this season instead of just throwing up his hands and knowing that losing your captain for the majority of it, as well as other key players, is a reason to have a losing season.

Now we just have to wait.
