Looking to extend their winning streak to eight games in a row, the Reign stormed Coachella Valley on Wednesday night with high hopes. Things didn’t exactly turn out in their favor, though, as they were quickly run out of town by a Firebirds team that is first in the Western Conference.
Coach Marco Sturm recently said, “When the Reign Train is rolling, you have to watch out!” And that’s likely what all the other Pacific Division teams are thinking right now.
For the third time this season, Ontario coach Marco Sturm has guided his team to a five-game winning streak. And they’ll be looking to keep the Reign Train rolling in Henderson on Wednesday when they take on the Silver Knights for the seventh time this season.
If it’s simulated post-season drama that Reign coach Marco Sturm is looking for, Saturday night should whet his appetite. The Bakersfield Condors are in town for the final regular season meeting between the two clubs at Toyota Arena this season.
Much like their NHL parent, the San Jose Barracuda are having a rather difficult 2023-24. With only 11 games remaining on their regular season schedule, they’re battling to stay out of last place in the AHL.

Last season is a distant memory at this point when it comes to the longstanding Reign-Gulls rivalry. One year ago, Ontario dominated their Pacific Division neighbors to the south, posting a 6-1-1 record in their eight-game season series.
Sturm has been a member of the Kings organization since 2018-19, serving as an assistant coach in that timeframe.
