Inter and Simone Inzaghi are putting the finishing touches on a contract renewal that will see the coach commit to the team potentially until 2027. The gaffer has been in Milan since 2021, when Antonio Conte abruptly decided to leave due to their economic problems.

Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the gaffer solidified his position over the years through a few domestic trophies. He’s on the precipice of conquering the most important one, the Scudetto, which has eluded him so far. The deep Champions League run last season quelled the residual reservations about him and boosted his reputation. It was further amplified by the performances in Serie A this campaign.

Inzaghi is poised to obtain his third renewal since joining Inter. The previous two were just annual, while the next one will be longer considering an option. The signature should arrive before the end of the season, perhaps after sealing the title.

The expiration date will coincide with those of the apical executives. Giuseppe Marotta has already announced that he will leave the club in 2027. The gaffer is expected to receive a €1M pay bump compared to his current €5.5M salary.

Our Take on Inter and Inzaghi

Their early Champions League exit was a knock on his resume, but it balances out what they accomplished last year and their glorious Serie A run. They better lock him up before the international coaching carousel gets going. He might be a fallback for some teams.
