Premier League side Manchester United are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window, and they are reported to be interested in three different centre-backs all currently plying their trade in Serie A.

The most notable, and likely the most expensive option is Juventus mainstay Gleison Bremer, whose release clause will become active in the summer of 2025. In just over a year’s time, the Brazilian will become available for a price between €65m and €70m.

As Fabrizio Romano revealed on Friday, Bremer will not have a release clause valid this summer, however, Juventus will reportedly consider offers around the same price range as the release clause if they come in this summer.

Manchester United are also thought to be interested in Atalanta and Italy prodigy Giorgio Scalvini, who turned 20 at the back end of 2023.

Scalvini is tipped to become one of Italy’s standout defenders over the next decade, and has already racked up an impressive 88 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta, 77 in Serie A, as well as eight caps for the Italy national team.

It is expected that Scalvini’s price tag will be somewhere around the €40m mark, however, Atalanta are expected to hold the cards if offers come in this summer, as the youngster penned a new, long-term contract until the summer of 2028 back in January.

Another option, and one that would likely be significantly cheaper, is Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi, who, according to recent reports in Colombia, is attracting interest from both Man United and Atletico Madrid.

Recent suggestions claim that Lucumi would fetch Bologna a fee of around €20m if he were to be sold this summer, which certainly isn’t out of the question for a club of United’s stature.
