WWE WrestleMania 40 night one was a Premium Live Event for the books. The inaugural day of this two-night spectacular saw moments and matches that will forever be etched in the history books. Three of those breathtaking moments came in the form of title changes. Here’s what went down at WWE WrestleMania XL.

Sami Zayn Exorcises His Demons

The “Ultimate Underdog”, Sami Zayn, came into WWE WrestleMania 40 with a lot to prove. While he did main event WWE WrestleMania 39 and came out victorious with his best friend Kevin Owens to become Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, it seemed like he would crumple in singles bouts.

However, at WrestleMania 40, Zayn finally proved all the doubters wrong by vanquishing GUNTHER and ending his historic 600+ days reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion. GUNTHER put the whipping on Zayn, and it seemed like all hope was lost.

Fortunately for all the believers, Zayn found it in himself to fight and take the title, putting a nice, neat little bow on this tremendous journey.

Undisputed No More

The Six-Pack Challenge for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships was outstanding. It was a car wreck from start to finish in the best way possible. The match concluded with two teams dethroning the dominant Judgment Day.

First was A-Town Down Under, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller writing their names in the record books by winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. From upstarts to veterans, the reformed team of The Awesome Truth, R-Truth and The Miz had their WrestleMania moment by winning the Raw Tag Team Championship, their first as a team.

The first night of WWE WrestleMania 40 delivered and more. We hope to see you Sunday night, for WWE WrestleMania 40 night two!
