Fans have been wondering whether Kenny Omega will get surgery following him being diagnosed with diverticulitis and it looks like a decision has been made.

Diagnosis

He was last seen on the AEW Dynamite episode on December 13. The top star could’ve got a blood infection if he wasn’t diagnosed at the time he was, which would have something like a 50 percent chance of death.

At the time of the diagnosis, Omega had been paired with Chris Jericho on AEW television, and they were building to a match against Ricky Starks and Big Bill at the Worlds End pay-per-view event in late December.

Latest

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that while no decision has been made, “it looks more likely than not that Kenny Omega will be getting surgery on his intestines. He’s had his ups and downs but has largely been dealing with a good amount of pain for months now.”

Omega said that surgery is becoming more likely after two doctors told him that it was the best option.

Meltzer added, “It’s not 100 percent that he will have surgery, but it’s looking more likely, particularly if he wants to get into condition to resume his career that he will probably have to get rid of the perforated sections of his intestine and colon.”

Due to the ongoing storyline on television, Omega will feud with Kazuchika Okada when he returns after being replaced in The Elite.
