Latest On The Rock’s Post Wrestlemania 40 Plans: Will He Compete Again in 2024?

A new report has revealed the time frame for when The Rock could next compete for WWE after this year’s Wrestlemania.

The WWE product has been red-hot over the last year and a half. However, it has been positively electric since Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has returned to the company for a featured role on the road to Wrestlemania 40. His involvement in the Bloodline versus Cody Rhodes storyline has generated a great deal of buzz for the April event.

Now that the WWE legend is a part of the promotion’s parent company TKO Group Holdings, and there is still an unfilled matchup with Roman Reigns hanging out there, many are wondering if The Rock could be far more active with the company than he has been in recent years.

The Rock officially ruled out of WWE return at Saudi event in May

A recent report suggested the company is hoping for another matchup this year, with May being a possible option. However, that is now looking unlikely, but a return in the late summer or fall is looking very possible, according to PW Insider.

On Wednesday, the outlet reported that Johnson is producing and starring in The Smashing Machine and will begin filming for the film soon after Wrestlemania 40. The project is set to go in front of cameras from May 1 to August 1. Which would rule him out of taking part in WWE’s next Saudi Arabia event in May.

It also means competing and promoting a potential card at Summerslam 2024 would be difficult since the event takes place two days after the close of filming on the movie. However, a potential return later on the WWE schedule, for example at Survivor Series 2024 could be an option.
