Ted DiBiase Reveals CM Punk Attended Terry Funk's Funeral

Ted DiBiase believes that CM Punk is one of the greatest wrestlers of today and that's in due part to the education he's received over the years.

In an exclusive clip on Ted DiBiase's podcast channel, Everybody Got A Pod, the WWE Hall Of Famer made mention of CM Punk and had huge praise for the returning WWE talent.

"I don't know anything about CM Punk's personality or any of that. All I'm strictly talking about is his work, and his work is really good. I didn't realize it, but one of my mentors, Terry Funk, had poured into him some. He actually came to Terry's funeral. I didn't know that they had that kind of a relationship, and apparently, they did."

There's been several occassions as to when CM Punk would bring up the legacy of Funk and along with rival Eddie Kingston, also has paid homage to him after he passed away on August 23, 2023. During AEW media scrums, Punk was asked about Terry Funk's influence, even becoming a topic during the infamous All Out 2022 press conference, creating a hypothetical where Adam Page wouldn't take the advice of the pro wrestling legend.

After Punk's first AEW match at All Out 2021, he spoke about how Terry Funk's legacy has flown under the radar.

“I don’t think Terry Funk gets the credit for being the wrestler he was. I don’t think a lot of those guys do,” Punk explained, “but I also think it’s a generational thing.

When Terry Funk passed away earlier this year, Punk made a major point to honor his passing during an episode of AEW Collision.

Punk likely ran into Terry Funk all the way back in the early 2000s when a young Punk and a veteran Funk were both working for Major League Wrestling. Back in 2014, Terry Funk ironically talked about CM Punk's WWE departure.
