WWE won't allow Kevin Nash to attend Sting's final match

Sting is a wrestling legend, rising to prominence as part of the NWO Wolfpack on WCW. He's worked for every major promotion outside of New Japan Pro Wrestling. And he's held a total of 26 championships in his career. As such, his final match, which is scheduled for "AEW Revolution," will be a must-see. Unfortunately, one of his closest friends in the business, Kevin Nash, is unable to attend.

Nash is positioned within the WWE. He's under contract. When speaking on the "Kliq This" podcast, he revealed that he asked permission to attend the retirement match but was kindly shot down.

“He asked me to be a part of it," Nash said. "I just said that because of my positioning with the company, with WWE, I couldn’t. I couldn’t even be there. If I went in the crowd, it would be…He said he wanted me to be there because I was just one of the guys that’s been with him the whole run. He was disappointed. I was disappointed. I knew, I asked. You know when you ask and there’s that three or four-second pause, and it’s just like, 'Okay.'"

AEW is the WWE's biggest competitor. Having one of their staff in attendance for a pay-per-view would certainly create headlines. From a business standpoint, keeping Nash away from Revolution makes sense. However, Sting's request wasn't about business. It was about a friendship that spanned over 30 years. It's about Nash honoring his friend.

Sting's final match will be a tag-team championship defense with Darby Allin. They will face the Young Bucks. Nash will likely be watching from home. In what is developing into an ideal send-off for the 64-year-old, his friend's absence will hurt. Still, that shouldn't stop him from writing one final chapter in what has been a historic career.
